Welcome

President’s welcome,

We have attached the registration form for this year’s seminar in Cheyenne, Wyo. The WCA seminar was scheduled to be held at the Red Lion Inn as usual. The hotel mis-booked another conference at the same time as ours, even though we booked it at the end of last year’s seminar. That conference is using all the meeting rooms.

Not to worry, however. The hotel has booked the historic Cheyenne Depot Museum in downtown Cheyenne, 121 W. 15th St. ALL of the events will be held there except the happy hour on Thursday afternoon. It will be held in the Rawhide room at the Red Lion. The hotel is catering our food and is covering the cost of the Depot. There is NO increase in their prices to us for any services. They will also have a shuttle available for anyone that would like a ride to and from the hotel to the Depot.

We ask that you consider staying at the hotel. They are going out of their way to make their mistake right with us. The room block is in effect and the rate is the same as last year at $89.00/night plus taxes. There is a parking area around the Depot downtown.

Please note that the Department of Insurance has changed the CE regulation. Licensees are required to complete 24 continuing education credit hours during a two-year licensing period. Three of the 24 hours that are completed must be approved as ethics hours.

Effective with the 1/31/2023 license renewals, licensees may not receive credit for attendance at the same course more than once every 48 months.

Effective with the 1/31/2023 license renewals, licensees can begin carrying forward excess continuing education hours Credits must have been earned in the 120 days prior to the licensing continuation date.

  • The maximum number of carry forward hours is 12.
  • Hours carry forward as general credits.
  • It is the responsibility of the licensee to complete and confirm continuing education compliance prior to license expiration.

This year’s agenda is a flexible two-day schedule and will allow for everyone to get as many as 12 credit hours at one location if they desire. Registration, fees, and credits will be handled separately for the 6-hour day starting Thursday, May 11th. Be sure to read and fill in your registration form carefully to avoid any potential misunderstandings and mistakes. An additional 6-hour day will be held again on Friday May 12th. Please feel free to register for either or both days as you wish. Dress is Casual as always.

WCA Mission

The Wyoming Claims Association is a group of insurance professionals who gather annually for continual education purposes, collaborate on the current insurance trends, discuss any changes in the legislature, and build professional ties with insurance industry peers. The group is composed of company staff adjusters, independent adjusters, agents, and vendors throughout Wyoming and neighboring states. Our goals are:

  1. To promote an environment of continued growth and fellowship for all parties involved.
  2. To annually provide opportunity to earn 12 CE’s (three CE’s each year towards Ethics requirement) towards renewal of professional insurance industry licensure.
